FullTilt's I-Accel Powers Content Management Best Practices in the Electrical Industry
By Louis Columbus

Every industry has the pain point of trying to take each manufacturer's taxonomy or schema for defining products and normalize all of them into a common industry-wide data definition. The harder industry organizations push, the less valuable the taxonomy becomes, because all manufacturers demand differentiation in how they are portrayed. The net result is industry-wide taxonomies, both broad and thin, that rarely lead to actual transactions being done. Compounding this, each manufacturer changes its schema to reflect current and future product direction. Clearly, the confusion of how to define, develop, and maintain industry-wide schemas is a major pain point in any industry.

FullTilt's I-Accel platform shows leadership in tackling this pain point, through its work in developing and maintaining the global electrical products industry-standard schema. Working in conjunction with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), and their jointly owned commercial e-business, the Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA), FullTilt's Product Standardization Engine is now being used to drive schema development for IDEA's Industry Data Exchange and its supporting data warehouse. FullTilt is making it possible for this industry to create a central repository of product information, with first phase efforts with NEMA focused on the Lighting industry.

Having uncovered one of the biggest pain points in content management, FullTilt's I-Accel line has been designed to address creation, modification, and maintenance of industry-wide taxonomies and schema, definition of content aggregation and syndication strategies, and most difficult of all, creation of schemas that preserve competitive differentiation. AMR Research expects to see FullTilt expand its product leadership by continuing to take up the most pressing pain points in content management today and tomorrow.
