FullTilt Solutions Receives Patent for Internal Data Synchronization of Enterprise
Product Information Management
Patent is key enabling technology for business-to-business electronic commerce to advance
synchronization of product information internally and externally
WAYNE, PA - FullTilt Solutions, Inc., a provider of Enterprise Product Information Management solutions, announced today that it has been granted a U.S. patent for methods of synchronizing disparate product definitions from multiple silos of data within an enterprise. This internal data synchronization process is a critical component in product information management because it eliminates inconsistencies, duplicates and errors that can hamper e-commerce and supply chain optimization.
The patent (U.S. Patent No. 6,668,254 B2), entitled "METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPORTING DATA," covers FullTilt's methodology and systems for importing and standardizing product information stored in disparate formats from different enterprise sources. FullTilt's technology automatically adjusts product definitions contained in disparate systems throughout an enterprise to conform to a pre-defined format or template, dynamically updates product information as it changes to ensure 24x7 accuracy, and maintains current information in a central repository for use both within the organization and by external trading partners including those that utilize UCCnet, ECCnet, Transora, WWRE, GHX, IDEA and others in unlimited user-defined custom formats.
According to a recent study by Capgemini, more than 50 percent of the items in company systems contain incorrect data. The analysis found that half of consumer units were incorrect and one-third of traded units were inaccurate. It also reported that nearly 75 percent of suppliers of consumer units had incorrect items, and 57 percent of suppliers of traded units had errors. These variations in product descriptions can cause problems ranging from order/invoice discrepancies to time-to-market delays.
